We have answers.

Simply put,we earn maximum rebate/incentive dollars. The KEM team has extensive experience on both sides of the incentive process. Through years of implementing utility incentive programs, KEM is best-suited to navigate demand-side energy programs in a way that achieves win-win results for both utilities and its indoor agriculture clients.

Ideally KEM would get involved with a project once design is complete, prior to the purchase of equipment. We are product agnostic, so we typically do not get involved with equipment decisions. In some cases, we can provide incentive estimates for multiple options if requested. Once design and equipment decisions are made, we will work with the utility to earn the maximum amount of incentive dollars for your project.
-
No. Most if not all of the documentation we require is already available if project design is complete and equipment decisions are made. Most of our projects require 1-2 short meetings, and can be handled via email from that point on with little effort on the client’s part. Once we have everything we need, KEM will handle all the communication with the utility program on your behalf, leaving you free to focus on executing your project.
-
Yes. While our average customer has approximately 10,000 sq feet of canopy, we are happy to help smaller facilities earn incentives when given the opportunity.
-
When in doubt, ask! In addition to upkeeping an extensive utility incentive database, KEM is always happy to make initial contact with new utility program implementers to explore the most advantageous incentive pathways for interested clients.
-
Once a project is complete, utility programs will often perform an in-person post-inspection to ensure that all equipment is installed and operational. Once complete, most utilities will mail the incentive check within 4-6 weeks.
-
None! KEM does not invoice clients until the incentive check has been issued. We don’t get paid until you get paid.
-
Yes, very much so. A utility on one side of a state may value certain equipment efficiencies very differently than a neighboring utility. This can sometimes make comparing your estimated incentives with those earned by peers misleading and confusing. KEM will always work to carefully explain the context around incentive offerings to ensure you have all the relevant information at your disposal.
-
Possibly. While most utility programs require pre-approval, many of them are willing to make exceptions to the pre-approval rules in some circumstances. KEM can work with you and your utility to explore options. To date, we have earned over $5 million in supplemental incentives on projects that were already purchased or installed.
